James D. Shannon Scholarship

The James D. Shannon Scholarship is a legacy left by the late Mr. & Mrs. James Shannon of Houston County.  They understood the importance of healthcare provided in the local community and were frequently cared for at Patients' Choice Medical Center.  Mr. & Mrs. Shannon continued to support local healthcare professionals by establishing the James D. Shannon Scholarship.  This fund provides financial support for students in Houston and Stewart County to pursue a career in healthcare.

Patients' Choice Medical Center has overseen the scholarship fund since its inception.  The scholarships are awarded annually through an evaluation process by the scholarship committee.  The scholarship committee comprises of the Houston County School Superintendent, Patients' Choice CEO, Patients' Choice CNO, Patients' Choice Chief of Medical Staff and Patients' Choice Board Chairman.  The scholarship applications are reviewed with an emphasis on financial need, academic standing and overall presentation.

Applications need to be sent to Patients' Choice Medical Center, ATTN:  Human Resources.  The scholarship application will be accepted each February 1st - March 15th or the next business day.  Applicants will be notified by May 30th of the scholarship results.
