PATIENTS' CHOICE MEDICAL CENTER OF ERIN HAS RECEIVED A CERTIFICATE OF NEED TO ESTABLISH AN INPATIENT GERIATRIC/PSYCHIATRIC PROGRAM THAT WILL OPEN IN 2009.

Patients' Choice Senior Care

handsAs is the trend nationwide, Tennessee ’s senior population is growing rapidly as the Baby Boom generation becomes the most aged adults with prospects to live longer than previous generations.

The stresses and emotions associated with aging, including retirement, loss of loved ones and friends, loneliness, financial concerns and physical difficulties, can become overwhelming.

To seniors, the need for the independence they have relied on all their lives causes them to resist accepting help in handling the emotional and physical changes they know are taking place. Seniors many times become combative and resistant to concerns from relatives or friends who recognize their decline in abilities and function.

Some are able to adjust to the changes while many display the signs of someone in need of help. Patients’ Choice’s experienced, licensed and credentialed professional staff provide senior patients and families caring and effective solutions.

The staff of mental health professionals applies a team approach to treatment. A comprehensive assessment, individual treatment and education plans are designed for each person. The focus of each treatment plan addresses the individual’s special needs.

Patients’ Choice Senior Care program provides inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization services.

The Inpatient Program is located in Patients' Choice Medical Center of Erin. The nine-bed in-hospital unit provides semi-private rooms and facilities for therapy sessions, meetings, recreation and visits with family.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides therapy sessions three days a week for those facing mental health issues associated with aging.

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) meets five days a week and provides more intensive support to clients with all major psychiatric disorders.

Services of the programs include individual and group therapy, medication evaluation, medical care, psychological consultation, recreation and activities therapy.

Referrals can be made by a physician, family member, friend or caring person.
